Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is applied to all versions of Wordament for Windows Phone 7 offered by You vs. the Internet, LLC. If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please feel free to contact us through our website or our support e-mail address:

Information we collect and how we use it

We may collect the following types of information:

  • The screen name you request at sign up – When you first start Wordament, you will be asked to provide a screen name up to 32 characters long consisting of letters, numbers, spaces, and underscore characters. We reserve the right to change your screen name if it is offensive in nature.
  • Session count – we keep track of the number of times you have signed in to play. This is used for stats computation.
  • Wordament version – we store the version of Wordament that you are playing with so that we can serve you regardless of the version you are playing. We are
currently supporting 8 revisions of Wordament on Windows Phone 7 devices and we retain backwards compatibility with all of these versions through this field.
  • Game results – At the conclusion of each game, your phone will submit results to our service to rank against all other players in real-time. We store your
results for leaderboard generation. We also reserve the right to examine
results for possible cheat detection. If we encounter cheating-like behavior,
we reserve the right to ban players from our leaderboards.
  • Aggregated leaderboard data – We use the Game
data to build a collection of user-facing leaderboards that can
include you screen name, scores, word counts, best plays, totals, and averages.
  • Frenemies – We store the list of Frenemies that you follow in game in order to
provide you a personalized window of Frenemy results. No other user can see who you follow.
  • IP Address – We store your last known IP Address to determine the Country Code and Flag to display for your results in the leaderboard. Players can request
that we show an alternative flag if they would prefer to play for their “home
country.” Requests for Country Code updates may be made by emailing us at
  • Anonymous Windows Live ID – Each Windows Phone 7 provides us with a unique, non-trackable ID representing a unique user. We use this ID to help recover your screen name when you uninstall and reinstall, or move to a new phone and use the same Windows Live ID. The Anonymous Windows Live ID is an opaque number and does not include any personally identifiable information like email address or contact information.

In addition to the above, we may use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, protect, and improve our services (including advertising services) and develop new service; and
  • Protect the rights of You vs. the Internet, LLC and our players.

Wordament is hosted on Google AppEngine and is run on their services in the United States of America. In some cases, we store and process information outside your own country. Google AppEngine’s Privacy Policy is available here:

Information sharing

You vs. the Internet, LLC does not share any of the information we collect with third parties, including third-party advertising services. Wordament includes, at least, the Microsoft Advertising control, and their privacy policy is available here:

Information security

We take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. These include internal reviews of our data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures.

We restrict access to the information we collect to You vs. the Internet, LLC employees and agents who need to know that information in order to process it on our behalf. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations.

Accessing and updating your player information

When you play Wordament, we make good faith efforts to provide you with access to your information and either to correct this data if it is inaccurate or to delete such data at your request if it is not otherwise required to be retained by law or for legitimate business purposes. We ask individual users to identify themselves and the information requested to be accessed, corrected or removed before processing such requests, and we may
decline to process requests that are unreasonably repetitive or systematic, require disproportionate technical effort, jeopardize the privacy of others, or would be extremely impractical (for instance, requests concerning information residing on backup tapes), or for which access is not otherwise required. In any case where we provide information access and correction, we perform this service free of charge, except if doing so would require a disproportionate effort. Because of the way we maintain certain services, after you delete your information, residual copies may take a period of time before they are deleted from our active servers and may remain in our backup systems.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

Please note that this Privacy Policy may change from time to time. We will not reduce your rights under this Privacy Policy without your explicit consent. We will post any Privacy Policy changes on this page and, if the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice (including, for certain services, email notification of Privacy Policy
changes). We will also keep prior versions of this Privacy Policy in an archive for your review.
